REVIEW: Turbo

REVIEW: Turbo

Just like it's name, this is "Turbocharged" family fun.  It's a snail who dreams he can do the opposite of his nature which, of course, is to go slow.  He is constantly trying to out run the tomatoes he picks and they usually run him over.  Peer pressure from the other worker snails try to get him to give up his dreams of being a race car driver like his idol.  Accidental luck, after running away from home, gets him sucked into a street race dragster.  He becomes "One" with the turbocharge fuel and it transforms him into a dragster escargot.

One thing leads to another after he is found on the road by a taco shack owner who is a big dreamer and they end up getting him entered into the Indy 500. (I know, a bit far fetched)  But the kids all roared with laughter and were at the edge of their seats waiting to see what was going to happen next.  I haven't seen that kind of audience participation in a long while.  I think the script is excellent for this kind of animated family fantasy and the 3D is totally awesome.

Ryan Reynolds was fresh off his costarring stint as the caveboy genius in "The Croods" to play the lead in this one and was excellent.  Paul Giamatti is great too.

Kids give it 4 and a half stars.

I give it 3 and a half.
